Biography

Self-educated from the start, Borjas abandons his university studies of economics to devote himself entirely and exclusively to art. He undertakes in-depth personal research which will ultimately allow him to earn the Superior National Diploma of Plastic Arts in France.

In his early abstract artwork of the 1980s, he experimented with all sorts of materials, bringing to light raw, earthy materials in monochrome environments – whilst producing sculptures and assembling diverse objects in iron, wood, or concrete.

In the 90s, he starts experimenting with photography, first layering paints and drawings on the photography, as well as superimposing negatives and strips directly on the film.

Through his renowned large-scale art installations composed of photography recomposing, fragmenting, and cutting, resulting in abstract forms of the image, Borjas represents a certain view of contemporary ethnography.
